Looking to get into the holiday spirit? Downtown OKC is full of festive decorations and activities all December long.

A visit to First National is a must! Their whole building is filled with stunning Christmas decor. From luxurious chairs, life size santas, toy soldiers, nutcrackers, and gingerbread men, you will delight in this Christmas wonderland. They even have a real life Santa Claus on certain days for pictures and visiting with their guests. You can grab a bite to eat at Teller's, enjoy a cocktail at the Library of Distilled Spirits (located in the old bank vaults), or grab a coffee and decadent pastry at the Gilded Acorn!

Be sure to visit the Devon Tower during the holidays to see their enormous pine cone installation in their main lobby area. Take a photo op with Devon's giant Christmas Ornaments located all around and inside their building.

Lights on Broadway is another popular attraction to visit at night when all the buildings are lit up bright for the holiday season. The Bricktown Canal is also another great place to see Christmas lights and is best enjoyed while taking a ride on the water taxi.

Just recently Scissortail Park has extended its park. The newly opened park extends from the core of downtown Oklahoma City over I-40 and stretches to the Oklahoma River. With the new addition, there is space for athletic events and pickup sports, a soccer field, a sports pavilion, pickleball courts, a futsal court, and two basketball courts. With the lake, playground, walking trails, food, and live concerts - what else could we need?
  • I just had the most delicious Cinnamon Dulce Latte at All About Cha in Downtown OKC! If you've never been, it's located off of E. Main St and Oklahoma Avenue, across the street from the Holiday Inn Express. Perfectly situated near many of the most popular Downtown destinations!

Have you checked out the fabulously renovated historical First National Building in downtown Oklahoma City? It is something to put on your list of things to do! Not only is there a fabulous hotel, but also you will find many restaurants and a bar smack dab in the center as you land atop the escalator! I was shocked to see the renovations that are still ongoing. One of the restaurants named "Tellers" has the actual historical teller areas still intact. I won't give any more away. It's a must see in Downtown OKC!
  • The First is Oklahoma City's renovated, upscale apartment living and hotel. Originally the First National Bank Building, this historic icon built in the 1930s holds the most beautifully restored Art Deco interior you've ever seen. So much meticulous appreciation for detail and keeping the original artwork and architectural design. I was completely taken back in time. There are a total of six distinct gourmet dining and beverage experiences to choose from. The original vault has been made into a distilled hideaway perfect for a classic cocktail meeting with friends. This building is a must-see!

Wow!!! This new hotel has it all! 605 rooms, 17 stories, seven different dining options, and more! This hotel was built to serve as a convention hotel (as it connects to the new and soon to open Convention Center), but with conventions being cancelled or delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were worried about business being slow. I was able to attend the weekend the Omni opened its door, ventured into the Oklahoma City Tap House Restaurant and Bar, listened to live music, played a few games, and had a wonderful time in a covid-friendly packed bar! I'm looking forward to everything really opening up again and trying out all of the dining options this hotel has to offer!!
  • Located on historic Film Row in Downtown OKC, The Jones Assembly is one of the city's newest live music venues featuring a refined, regionally inspired food and cocktail menu. The industrial-chic mixed-use space includes various bars, an outdoor balcony, a projector screen perfect for viewing Thunder games, and a large outdoor space. The Jones Assembly offers lunch, dinner, brunch, coffee, and dessert menus. Each menu is varied and exciting, ranging from fried okra and Nashville Hot Chicken to Italian-inspired dishes and all of their cocktails are unique and expertly made.

Next time you decide to grab brunch in Oklahoma City, don't forget to try my personal favorites: a Frosé and Croque Madame!

Are you ready for a new, convenient way to access all your favorite downtown hot spots? The OKC Streetcar will be officially up and running on Friday, December 14th. The seven streetcars (green, blue and pink) run on two loops that cover 4.7 miles, six days a week through our favorite districts: Downtown, Bricktown, Midtown, and Automobile Alley.

Passengers will only have to walk a couple of blocks (minimum five minute walk) to the 22 platforms that will connect them with restaurants, local shops, hotels, and attractions. On Fridays and Saturdays, a dedicated loop running from East Bricktown to the Myriad Gardens from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. along Reno and Sheridan will be in 15 minute increments.

Expect streetcars arriving every 12 to 14 minutes beginning at 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday making meeting commutes easier for non-downtown workers. Day passes will be available for purchase for $3.00 or single-use tickets can be purchased for $1.00. Embark's mobile fare app can also be used. Free rides will be offered from December 14th through January 5th.

  • I know that the temperatures in Oklahoma can get brutal sometimes during our summers. If you're a Star Wars fan and love to possibly enjoy a great Summer evening of outdoors fun, then you'll want to schedule this outdoors movie for you and your friends and family.

What's really unique about this event is that it will be on the water! Our Oklahoma River is a jewel in OKC's landscape of Downtown Oklahoma City fun. You'll be floating on tubes and rafts! If you don't want to wade into the water, that's no problem as there will be room and visibility on the shore for you to bring your lawn chairs and blankets to view the film.

So feel free to bring a blanket or lawn chair and watch the film for free from the banks of the lower pond or rent a tube or raft ($10 per person). Big Water Grill will be open until 10:30 pm for dinner, snacks, and drinks! Outside food and beverages are not allowed. See you on the water July 14th! See details below.

  • Curious about the best brunch spot in Downtown OKC? I've recently found a great restaurant to stop at when I'm showing urban living options in the Downtown OKC area...FLINT! The food here for brunch is not light. It's solid food and you'll want to take that into consideration with your other downtown plans. I seriously love the location and atmosphere of Flint as well as what they have brought to Downtown OKC. Located close to the Myriad Gardens, it's easy to walk over to Flint, especially if you are taking anyone on a brief walking tour of the Gardens and the general area when explaining the advantages of urban living in Downtown and Bricktown Oklahoma City.

Favorite brunch choices? For me I found the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Tenders with some Chipotle Honey to be divine! Many like the Flint Benedict which is a unique concoction of BBQ Candied Neuske's Bacon, Two Poached Eggs, aButtermilk Biscuit, and Hollandaise.
I've also had the Sante Fe before and really enjoyed it. Ingredients include chorizo, sweet potato, poblano, caramelized onion, queso fresco and it's very good!

Please check out all of our urban Oklahoma City dining and urban living excitement. It's a great time to explore OKC and live in Downtown Oklahoma City!

Downtown Oklahoma City in the fall is such a beautiful place to be. Trees are changing colors and the temperatures are cooler! The Bleu Garten, at the corner of 10th and Hudson, offers an ever changing menu and the largest patio in Oklahoma City to hang out. Bleu Garten is the original food truck park and beer garden.

Everyday different food trucks pull in and offer up some gourmet creation that will leave you chasing them all over town. There are two full service bars with a wide variety of cocktails, beer and wine. The Bleu Garten is a family friendly establishment offering shade, entertainment, friendly games and pets! This time of year, The Plant Stand pops up next door to The Bleu Garten and sells pumpkins and flowers. Park and walk around, stop in for food and beverage and keep exploring this great city!
  • Lunching Downtown OKC and showing some urban properties. Discovered a lovely find in my foodie adventures. Yuzo Sushi Tapas? That's right and you read that right! Very interesting restaurant name and concept if you ask me. It's a Latin-Japanese 'fusion' restaurant and the fare is decidedly unique.

What is my favorite choice from this location? Hamachi Ajillo is priced nice at $14 and it's a concoction of yellow-tail tune and some sublime seasonings. I didn't know what ponzu sauce was at first, but they explained it as a blend of soy sauce and some citrus juice...I took the dive and it was great. I also enjoyed the Viet Summer roll...sushi and a egg roll approach..nice taste and priced around $16..it was good.

Need to explore a locally owned foodie find in OKC? This place is a great one to start with in OKC dining! Find it at 808 North Broadway Avenue, Oklahoma City. You will be pleasantly surprised!
  • Today was a great day in Downtown OKC! I got to show a couple of lovely lofts Downtown and have lunch at The Wedge Pizza Downtown. Then I spent the afternoon at the Myriad Gardens for the OKC Garden Fest.

I'm a member of the Myriad Gardens Patrons and I was happy to participate in this Mother's Day weekend event. It was great fun to have my Mom from Stillwater come along and enjoy the fun. There were over 30 vendor booths and kiosks to show off the products and services for lovers of the Myriad Gardens and gardening. Personally, I loved the sessions on starting a butterfly garden and helping to build the Monarch butterfly population in Oklahoma. The event runs until 4pm today so try to make it out there..it's on the Myriad Gardens Pavilion area.
