The space that used to occupy Saint's is now home to Radbar. They have a happy hour from 4-7 every day, with some great specials and some tasty food options as well. I recommend getting the Michelangelo hot pocket, which is similar to a calzone. They recently expanded their food menu. I'll be back to try more of their offerings soon!

There's been a ton of hype around Ma Der since they opened a little over a year ago. Bon Appétit recently named them one of the best new restaurants in America. Chef Jeff Chanchaleune, known for opening Goro Ramen years back, had the vision to serve traditional Lao cuisine, food like he remembers eating growing up. The first thing I tried there was the Lao Sausage Hot Dog, a happy hour special they serve on weekdays, and I was blown away. For me, that's just one of those flavors that has really stuck with me and made me want to return again and again. They also have soup specials four days a week that I definitely recommend trying! So far I've yet to have anything I haven't been impressed with and I intend on trying everything on the menu.

A hub for local creativity, the Plaza District has so much to offer. The vibe of this hip district is fun, quirky, artistic, and a little bit funky. Locals love this area for the diverse restaurants, mural art, and fun shops. Be sure to dine at The Mule for their crafty grilled cheese sandwiches, and stop at Roxy's afterward for a hand-dipped ice cream cone. The district hosts monthly festivals that display local musicians and artists' work. The Plaza District is also home to the Lyric Theatre where you can watch live in-season performances. This district is perfect for dreamers, art lovers, and foodies alike!

The Plaza District is such a great new hot spot and also a fun place to hang out. Mexican Radio is one of my favorite spots! With their creative cocktails, green chili queso, and hip atmosphere you are guaranteed a fun night out.
  • Are you headed down to check out the Plaza District this weekend? There are so many things to do you might have to plan more than one day. Do you love art? The ever changing wall art is amazing. Stroll through the back alleys around 16th street and you will find huge walls of artists' most recent creations. People routinely love to take pictures in front of the different displays for graduation shots, great selfies, wedding shots, bachelor and bachelorette photos and awesome friend groups.

Hungry? Find everything from fine wine and gourmet nibbles to Mexican, ramen, pizza, comfort food and of course drinks at every block. Officially there are 13 arts and retail shops to peruse, and always music and fun just about every day of the week.

If you haven't thought about heading down there, it's about time. Tell your Uber driver to drop you off at NW 16th between Classen and Pennsylvania and get immersed in this special pocket of the Oklahoma City.

Yummy, yummy, yummy...did I mention this place is yummy?! Oh my! I had the potato crunch wrap. I cannot even begin to describe the mash up but it is so good I went once and had to go back again and get another one! It is a must to drink an Oklahoma Ranch Water with also. It is like a limeade of sorts but with vodka. This is in the heart of The Plaza District in the old Empire Slice space. I am telling you, it is an important spot of places on your food destination list! You won't be sorry!

I never really want to go to a restaurant more than just once or twice because I am always anxious to try new local restaurants that I have never been to before. However, The Mule has my heart! I have been here a dozen or more times. As someone who does not eat meat, I can always find something different to try. They absolutely never disappoint. Today it was the herbivore sandie with a Caesar salad. The Mule knows how to hit that sweet spot in me when they top their salads with chunks of grilled cheese croutons! I mean come on...who does that?! They are so special.

So one of the best things about this sandwich shop is the location in the Plaza district. I love the fact that all the businesses are local. The resurgence and revitalization is much needed and evident on every block that this is the place to be. I mean you have the historic Gatewood district and Classen Ten Penn all right there within walking distance.
  • They will still be in The Plaza District, but in a new building. Amazing locally owned pizza!
Empire Slice Pizza will have a much larger patio, more space in the bathrooms and two additional ovens. 35 new seats have been added to better handle the shop's customers. Check them out at the new location in The Plaza District.
  • Love the Plaza District? I've found a really sweet spot for you to visit when you are exploring this popular district in NW OKC. It's called Rough Hand Collective located at 1708 N Gatewood Ave. Oklahoma City OK 73106; 580-302-3893.

Okay, don't let the name of the business fool you! You will be blown away with the beautiful selection of handmade goods, but you can watch them produce wares right from their workshop! They have the unique and special when you want a gift for a friend or just something special for yourself. I have even used their lovely fare for home closing gifts! Check them out the next time you are in the Plaza District.

Many of my new home buyer clients need services to remodel or refresh their new living spaces. I always try to Keep It Local for dining, real estate services and entertainment when I recommend a product or service to my clients. That's why I'm always happy to recommend the services of Fete in Oklahoma City! They specialize in interior design services and the owners are great people. Make sure to ask for Haleigh or Tara when you visit Fete and you'll see what their great services can do for you home, too. They have ongoing workshops, a grab-and-go floral department if you need some color and fresh flowers for your home or office, and even calligraphy lessons and supplies. Love their shop!

Empire Slice House is a pizza joint in The Plaza district. Not just ordinary pizza either. Amazingly delicious pizza! Creative flavors and ingredients come together to take you to pizza heaven. An eclectic spot with a vibe for music and anything retro. Open style kitchen so you can see the creations in progress, full bar, family oriented and a cute little patio for outdoor dining. During warmer months they do a beer garden out back with drinks and specials. Menu features appetizers, whole pies or pizza by the slice. This is a must try, top of the list pizza joint!

Truly enjoyed the musical Rock of Ages performed at the Lyric Theater. This smaller venue provides great seats. The actors were amazing and most have or are studying performing arts at Oklahoma City University. If you want an up close and personal touch with the actors, this venue is for you. Acoustics are incredible as well! After the play, drop by The Mule for an appetizer and drink. Fun times...fun area.

If you love live music, great food vendors, restaurants, local art and flair, then you'll want to know about a recent annual event in The Plaza District. This year, September 30 was the Plaza District Festival. It was so walk-able and fun! Great locally owned shops, galleries and restaurants were part of the festivities. This district area and housing market has become a hub for creativity and a magnet for local businesses. It is a popular place for visitors who want to find that unique gift, enjoy a drink and soak in an area that now has a hipster, modern vibe. This was a fun way to enjoy the excellent weather we had in OKC!
  • Art, food, activities and music. What more could you ask for? The annual Plaza District Festival has everything you could want in a local family-friendly festival. Food Trucks will begin serving at noon. No matter the palate, there are plenty of tastes for everyone. Face painting, collaborative sidewalk chalk murals, home-made play-dough sculpting, bubble pools, giant yard games, a blanket fort, corn hole, and a variety of hands-on art projects are just a number of the many kids activities.
  • I've had a lot of fun touring the fun areas in OKC. Great time to live in Oklahoma City and the Plaza District in Oklahoma City is a great area to explore. One of the best places there to is a restaurant called Oak and Oar. They have a really unusual concept on beer that I like. They have 36 beers on tap and the selection is always rotating which which means you're never going to run out of beer selections here. What I really like about the restaurant is the unique appetizers, salads, and the great sandwiches they have there. It's really a great dining experience.

Here's my recommendation for the best thing to eat there. Chicken nachos! They use a Plantain Taro Root seasoning which is flavored wonderfully. If you've ever had kettle potato chips for a side you'll love their chip, so make sure you check out the Oak and Oar in the Plaza District is soon as possible.

Another of my current favorites? A buttery, flakey biscuit holding delicious fried chicken meat drizzled in honey and incredible to behold! If that didn't make your mouth water and salivate, I don't know what will. It's a very unique find in OKC and a great addition to the Plaza District. What was so perfect about this dish is the simplicity. No extra sauces, no artisan this or that, just great, amazing, simple (but really, really good) food that pairs so well with your beer. You won't be hungry after leaving this joint! And you won't be thirsty! Yes - don't forget those 36 beers on the wall!

There is also open seating, no reservations, vegetarian food and a variety of beverages available. I give 5 stars for the beer selection, 4 stars for the food, and 3 stars for service on the night we visited in May 2016. The Oak and Ore is definitely worth a visit.

Live! on the Plaza is the second Friday night of the month. It is a night where the Plaza District comes alive with artists, musicians, shoppers and hungry patrons wanting to check out one of the local restaurants. Last Friday a group of us checked out Live! on the Plaza. We quickly parked on one of the side streets off of 16th street.

On our way to 16th street we found a welder that was showing off his craft on the street outside his shop. Watching him intrigued us to go in his shop to see what other things he had made. He had incredible ornate iron bed frames and other furniture pieces. They were absolutely incredible.

After checking out his stuff, we headed down 16th to check out artists showing on the street and local shops. We wandered in and out of local galleries and stores. There were several local food trucks up and down the street.

We had a hard time deciding on which local restaurant we were going to eat at. We ended up having pizza from Empire Slice. We ordered the pizza because the wait was very long; next time we go to Live! on the Plaza we will put our name in the restaurant of our choosing right when we get there. However, ordering the pizza worked out nicely, we found a picnic bench and enjoyed our pizza. It was a perfect night for dinner outside. We enjoyed yummy garlic knots and pizza.

Live! on the plaza is a lot of fun! Go enjoy one of the Plaza District's delicious restaurants, people watch and discover local artists and shops. Enjoy!
