Jefferson Park is filled with historic charm and is truly a bungalow neighborhood, just north of downtown Oklahoma City and a mile west of the State Capitol. It is neighbored by some of Oklahoma City's other historic neighborhoods. The Bungalow style dominates this neighborhood and almost fifty percent of the single-family residences and some of the duplexes are of frame construction with low-pitched roofs and large front porches with brick piers and tapered wood columns. This style is also characterized by the exposed roof rafters, brackets, and beams.
  • Jefferson Park Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is a community of mostly Bungalow homes. While the Bungalow style is predominant, however, other architectural styles include Craftsman, Tudor Revival, the Colonial Revival, and the Prairie School styles of homes. Schools for this area are Wilson Elementary, FD Moon and Classen SAS Middle Schools, and Douglass and Classen SAS High Schools. Two perfectly placed parks within the neighborhood with lots of amenities are Sparrow Park and Goodholm Park.

    Jefferson Park
There are many wonderful historic communities in the Urban Core of Oklahoma City but Jefferson Park is a unique bungalow community that was established in 1903. Nestled in between Historic Heritage Hills, Historic Paseo Arts District, and Historic Edgemere Park; Jefferson Park offers its own style of architecture within its twenty-six blocks. The community was developed offering a transition to the city from a Victorian town to a modern thriving metropolis encouraging residents to move closer into the urban core of Oklahoma City.

Initially settled as a homestead with 160 acres prior to 1903, Jefferson Park was eventually platted with the other portion of the homestead being annexed by the city in 1908. The original boundaries of the neighborhood included a section extending just east of the Santa Fe railroad tracks. The 1980's altered the extended boundaries when the Centennial Expressway was constructed with those homes east of Robinson Avenue being demolished to make way.

Jefferson Park features homes with architectural styling that include: Craftsman, Tudor Revival, Colonial Revival, Spanish Mission, and American Prairie. The style of homes reflect the beginning of the twentieth century while the homes to the immediate north focus on the art deco and roaring 20's. Homes were built from 1903 through 1939 and offer a wide range of accommodations and the bungalow style dominating the neighborhood. The bungalow homes were built specifically with multiple windows to endure the hot and humid climate of Oklahoma. Half of the homes in Jefferson Park are bungalows while the second most popular architecture style is the Tudor.

Just like it did in the late 1920's and 1930's, Jefferson Park is attracting buyers to the neighborhood due to the flourishing downtown businesses.
