I spoke with city planners in Okmulgee and they have a new plan for the revitalization of the city. The Okmulgee 2030 plan has been released and it provides a road map for the great changes coming to the city. This area has great recreational resources including lakes, hunting areas, wildlife preservation areas, fishing, and all outdoor recreation in general. The plan includes some rezoning of the downtown area and updating the parks and recreational areas in the city. Okmulgee, like many Oklahoma towns has long struggled to keep up with the many changes that have occurred due to economic setbacks. The booming towns of the 50's and 60's have all but shut down. Boarded up windows on once thriving shops and restaurants has become common place, but that is all about to change. The city now has a plan and I am proud to tell you after speaking with the city planners, it will be exciting to see the new improvements coming to this great city. I believe the new Okmulgee 2030 plan is a positive direction for the people of Okmulgee and I can't wait to experience those changes first hand.
