Glenpool has its roots embedded in Tulsa's oil history. Glen Pool struck oil in 1905 shortly after Wildcatter Robert Galbreath found it in Red Fork, Indian Territory. The field at Glenn Pool was one of the largest finds in the Southwest. The Midland Valley Railroad laid track to Jenks to transport the oil, a post office was established and in 1908 the first school was enrolling children in the new district. By then, banks, a hotel, telegraph, restaurants, and stores were filling the town. Nearby Kiefer became another shipping point on the rail service only to later be discontinued in 1936 probably affected by the fact that in 1932 the Tidal Oil Company and Moon Gas Company are the only businesses in the labor directory of Oklahoma's Department of Labor. After World War II, the population began climbing and in 1970 had doubled. In 2005, the town celebrated its centennial and they continue to hold an annual Black Gold Days festival with arts, crafts, concerts, rides, parades, and other events. With a population of almost 14,000, Glenpool continues to thrive, located just south of Tulsa which is a 21-minute commute.

Glenpool offers convenient access to Tulsa via Hwy 75 and that makes it especially close to things like Main Event, a business that caters to activities for kids and group events like bowling and arcade and billiards type games. It also is close to the southwest corner of Tulsa where you will find a lovely shopping area, Tulsa Hills, which is full of larger retail developments and restaurants. It is also conveniently connected to both Jenks and Bixby via highway so it is extremely feasible to visit for day trips or afternoon outings and visit other area activities.

The larger employers in town other than the local school district are going to be retail, construction, and manufacturing as well as healthcare. The Glenpool School District currently is ranked as the #19th most diverse district in the state, and overall is 133rd for athletes. The website, www.niche.com rates their overall district grade as a B. However, the town is rated overall as the 17th best place to buy a home!
